SMale breast reduction treats gynaecomastia, a condition where excess breast tissue develops in one or both breasts, leading to a fuller or swollen chest. This can occur at any age and may be related to hormonal imbalance, weight changes, medication or substance use, though in many cases no single cause is identified. For some men, the condition causes physical discomfort; for others, it affects confidence and willingness to exercise or wear fitted clothing.
Surgery aims to restore a flatter, more defined chest contour that feels proportionate to the rest of the body. Depending on the type and amount of tissue present, treatment may involve liposuction to remove excess fat, surgical removal of glandular tissue, or a combination of both. Where larger amounts of tissue are removed, the nipple position may also be adjusted to maintain a natural chest shape.
Recovery is gradual. Swelling, bruising and tenderness are expected initially, and compression garments are used to support healing and help the chest settle into its new contour. This procedure is best suited to men with stable weight and true glandular enlargement, rather than chest fullness related solely to excess body fat.
